Alpha Phi was founded in 1872 at Syracuse University by ten of the first nineteen female students. These original ten, our founding members, built this fraternity with a mission to be a sisterhood of outstanding women supporting one another in lifelong achievement. The innovative leadership and organizational practices of Alpha Phi's Founders set the spirit for Alpha Phi to this day...a sisterhood that values the past while looking forward to the progress offered by the future.
